Autumn is traditionally the time for reflection and looking forward to the year ahead, but realistically we tend to play catch up from the Summer break pushing reflecting and goal setting back into November at the earliest.
Of the businesses we work with, the performance of the clients who set goals by far outstrips the performance of those who don’t.
We can’t stress how important it is to use the Autumn months to plan what you want to achieve in the new year.
Firstly, decide what you actually want to achieve and don’t forget to consider your personal goals too, E.g., working less hours and spending more time with your family.
Aim high and ensure your goals are challenging. This way you’ll always achieve more than setting mediocre goals, even if you don’t achieve them.
Write them down. There are plenty of people who don’t.
Take each goal and work backwards to create an action plan which documents how you’re going to achieve it.
Without a plan, you’re not going to achieve your goals.
Ensure your action plan is measurable. You can then measure how well you’re doing at the end of each month.
Be disciplined. Only work on things that will contribute towards achieving the goals.
Monitor your progress each week so if things aren’t working you can revisit and improve the action plan.
Repeat each week and then as the months pass by, you’ll get nearer to achieving your goals.
Email Phil or Darren if you'd like to discuss anything relating to goal setting.
Good luck and we look forward to seeing and helping you achieve what you want to in 2024.
